Valeria Danieli (she\/her) is a Research Associate with the Tracking (In)Justice project at the Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Carleton University, where her work focuses on deaths in custody and systemic accountability within Canada\u2019s criminal justice system. She is currently pursuing her Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School, with a concentration in criminal law and a strong interest in equity-driven, community-responsive legal advocacy.<\/p>\n
Valeria\u2019s academic and professional background includes research on state violence and criminalization, frontline experience providing literacy and educational support to high-risk youth, and her current work with the Community Legal Aid Program, where she serves as a Division Leader in the Criminal Division. This project is important to her because the true measure of a country\u2019s human rights lies in how it treats those in its custody, and because Canada\u2019s democratic integrity depends on upholding the same standard of human rights for all people, regardless of their circumstances.
