Digital Campus Innovation<\/strong>\u00a0is an\u00a0interdisciplinary effort to define, develop and evaluate new processes, methods and technologies towards a systemic, integrative and collaborative approach to decision-making in planning, designing, construction and operation of sustainable communities.<\/p>\n

\"Campus3D-2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Turning Carleton University\u2019s campus into a Living Laboratory, we will develop a comprehensive living dataset of diverse types and forms of information used for teaching, research and everyday operation of the campus.<\/p>\n

We envision this initiative will enable a new platform for teaching and research that will establish Carleton University as a national leader in sustainability. It will also empower the many stakeholders who shape planning, landscape, architecture and infrastructure with better, more timely information at less cost. The project will also lead into new forms of partnership and it will create new values and opportunities for the processes and technologies of the supporting organizations.<\/p>\n

\"Campus3D_1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

DCI <\/strong>involves a multi-phase project. In phase I, we will develop and utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM) to provide open access to building information and comprehensively evaluate the sustainability of a cluster of three diverse Carleton University buildings: Mackenzie, Canal, and Architecture.<\/p>\n

We aim to utilize BIM to significantly enhance the understanding of these buildings and to influence their operation and maintenance. The first steps are to collect or generate building data (e.g., drawings, surveys) and to construct BIM models.<\/p>\n
