This study seeks to reimagine knowledge, activism, and solidarity through the lived experiences of young women and girls with disabilities across the Global South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather than a traditional study&nbsp;<em>about<\/em>&nbsp;communities, this project is a partnership&nbsp;<em>with<\/em>&nbsp;them. Our work centers on several key pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Decolonial Disability Justice:<\/strong>&nbsp;Resisting colonial and ableist hierarchies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Youth Leadership:<\/strong>&nbsp;Centering the agency and expertise of young women and girls with disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Creative Knowledge:<\/strong>&nbsp;Using participatory arts, storytelling, and digital media to reclaim narratives and foster transnational solidarity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intersectionality<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;and Care:<\/strong>&nbsp;Understanding disability through the interwoven lenses of gender, race, class, and coloniality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Global South-CONNECT<\/strong>&nbsp;project is seeking&nbsp;a&nbsp;Local&nbsp;Research Assistant (RA) in Vietnam.&nbsp;The local RA will play a vital role in grounding the project\u2019s global aims within the Vietnamese context, facilitating spaces where disabled women and girls can shape the research and actions that affect their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We enthusiastically invite applications for this position. The RA will support and report tasks directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Xuan Thuy Nguyen, throughout the research process. The specifically responsibilities of the role are described below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Coordination:<\/strong>&nbsp;Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) with fieldwork preparation, including logistical organization and coordination with the research team and local partners.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Participant Engagement<\/strong>: Supporting recruitment and maintaining consistent, relational communication with local participants throughout the project timeline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Data management:<\/strong>&nbsp;Assisting with the collection, management, and analysis of qualitative data relevant to the Vietnamese research context.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Transnational Collaboration (when necessary):<\/strong>&nbsp;Collaborating with research assistants across other project sites to align with broader project objectives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current MA or PhD student (or equivalent) in Critical Disability Studies, Women\u2019s and Gender Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Decolonial Studies, or Sociology.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Knowledge of the socio-cultural and historical contexts of the Mekong Delta region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience working with women and girls with disabilities or local community-based organizations in the region is highly valued.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, critical qualitative research methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Language: Proficient&nbsp;in written and spoken English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terms of Appointment and Salary<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total work commitment is&nbsp;<strong>approximately 10 hours\/week, for 9 months\/year,<\/strong>&nbsp;starting on&nbsp;August 1st, 2026, and ending on&nbsp;April&nbsp;30, 2027,&nbsp;with the possibility of annual contract renewal.&nbsp;Salary will be paid in accordance with the candidate\u2019s experience and qualifications. A probationary period is applied for the first month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strongly encourage applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds, including women, people from ethnic minority groups, persons with disabilities, and members of LGBTQIA+ communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The successful candidate is expected to meet with the Principal Investigator and the research team on a regular basis via zoom or face-to-face.
