A PhD is required by July 1, 2023, with a demonstrated record of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, scholarly research and publication, and service. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research in Anti-Black Racism. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding and innovative research. Applicants should have a strong research profile appropriate to their stage of career. Evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence will be demonstrated by, for example, record of publications (or forthcoming publications) in monographs with major presses or articles in significant journals; presentations at major conferences; public-facing community work; awards and accolades; a record of external funding from major funding bodies; and strong recommendations from referees.
The position will involve undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision. Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching can be demonstrated through a statement of teaching interests, and a record of teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations, including in the high priority areas of experiential education and technology enhanced learning. Past experiences in supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion in previous institutions, such as in curriculum development and in supporting students from diverse backgrounds, is also an asset.
Applicants are asked to clearly indicate in their cover letter the unit(s) to wich they may be appointed. For applicants with interdisciplinary research areas, more than one Unit may be named. Applications will be reviewed by a multi-disciplinary search committee in FASS.
