Dear Fellow Carleton Instructor:<\/em><\/p>\n

How do you use digital media in the classroom? From projecting slide decks off of Brightspace to 300-person lecture halls in University Centre, to sharing screens in a Zoom-room full of graduate students, various forms of digital media are used as pedagogical tools. As part of our Digital Pedagogy Project (https:\/\/carleton.ca\/digitalpedagogy\/<\/a>), we are seeking your participation in a focus group with fellow Carleton instructors to explore their perceptions of digital media in their teaching, specifically through open educational resources (OERs) and multimedia formats (MM). We want to better understand why instructors do or do not use OER and MM, what concerns they have, and what they see as challenges and benefits to using OER and MM.<\/em><\/p>\n

This project focuses on instructors at Carleton University who have taught one or more courses in 2023 or 2024. We are seeking your participation in one of three lunchtime focus groups to take place on campus in September 2024. Each focus group will take approximately 90 minutes and refreshments and lunch will be provided. If you are interested in participating, we will share the focus group questions with you ahead of time. The data collected will be used to inform research reports, conference presentations, and the development of open-access pedagogical tools for Carleton instructors.<\/em><\/p>\n

The project team includes Drs. Irena Knezevic and Vincent Andrisani (faculty members in Communication and Media Studies) and Erin McHarge (doctoral student in Communication and Media Studies). The project is funded through the Carleton University Chair in Teaching Innovation award.<\/em><\/p>\n

There are no known risks associated with participating in this study.<\/em><\/p>\n
