Wendall was a warrior for Indigenous Persons with Disabilities, advocating for a journey \u201cfrom isolation to self-determination,\u201d on the international, national, regional, and local levels, on and off reserve, and in small rural towns. A child of the Maliseet Nation, founder of the Wabanaki Council on Disability, he coordinated the Indigenous Health of Tiohtia:ke, and the Wampum Critical Incident Stress Management. He was involved in the development of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Persons.<\/p>\n
