A particular focus is placed on the effect of the war on talent mobility, especially in Canada&#8217;s ability to attract STEM professionals through the CUAET. Comparisons are made with previous refugee responses, such as the programs established for Syrian and Afghan refugees, and the exclusions of certain wars and diasporas are tackled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/displacement-ukraine\/displacement-ukraine\/about\/day-2\/roundtable-2-ukrainian-settlement-on-the-ground\/\">ROUNDTABLE 2: Ukrainian Settlement on the Ground<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This roundtable explores the experiences on the ground of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. Participants recount their personal journeys and settlement in Canada and bring to light the difficulties experienced by refugees and IDPs across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/displacement-ukraine\/displacement-ukraine\/about\/day-2\/panel-5-displacement-in-eurasia-beyond-ukrainians\/\">PANEL 5: Displacement in Eurasia: Beyond Ukrainians<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This panel looks at the war more from a Russian standpoint. The exodus of IT professionals from Russia and Belarus to nearby countries in Central Asia is a focus, with the specific example of Armenia and the concurrent mobility of Armenians out of Nagorno-Karabakh placing strain on this sector.
