Postdoctoral Fellowship in First Nations Youth Resilience and Wellness<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Indigenous Youth Futures Partnership (http:\/\/www.indigenousyouthfutures.ca<\/a>) led out of Carleton University in collaboration with the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority seeks to appoint a postdoctoral fellow to support an interdisciplinary community-based research programme to understand and support community-led strategies for promoting youth resilience and wellness. The research involves partnering with Indigenous organizations and remote First Nations communities in the Sioux Lookout region of Northwestern Ontario. The successful applicant will support action-oriented community-based interdisciplinary research collaborations, and have opportunities to pursue independent lines of investigation around the general theme of Indigenous youth resilience.<\/p>\n

The duration of the award is 2 years, renewable for one additional year, commencing in the Fall of 2019. The annual value the award is $60,000 CDN plus eligible travel expenses, and housing in Sioux Lookout. The postdoctoral fellow will be under the supervision of Dr. Kim Matheson, but will work closely with other members of the Indigenous Youth Futures Partnership.<\/p>\n

Applicants must have at the time of the award completed a PhD in a relevant discipline including, but not restricted to, psychology, anthropology, health geography, or public policy. Applicants may not have received their PhD more than 5 years before the beginning of the fellowship. Applicants who do not have a completed PhD at the time of application should include a letter from their Department Chair specifying the date of their dissertation defense. Demonstrated productivity in terms of published journal articles and excellent written and oral communication skills is an asset, as is experience with community-based research and knowledge mobilization. Successful applicants will be expected to live in Sioux Lookout, ON, and travel to remote partner communities in Northwestern Ontario.<\/p>\n
