The progress report is the second written requirement of the 4th-year design project. The progress report should be submitted by individual students. This report gives an opportunity for writing elements of the Final Report. The report should consist of the following parts.

  1. Introduction
  2. Theory and Techniques
  3. Results and Discussion
  4. Timetable
  5. Conclusion

This report should make a prediction as to how the rest of the project is likely to develop in the form of a timetable, and state any variation from the project proposal that now seems necessary. The progress report should be submitted online by the deadline.

Progress reports are mainly for assessing a student’s progress since the proposal stage. Therefore, the supervisor is expected to warn the student against lower-than- expected performance. The suggested marking scheme is as follows

1. Introduction/Background (progress since proposal) 2/10
2. Results/Discussion (progress in the actual design) 5/10
3. Time Table (updated since progress and specific) 1/10
4. Conclusion/Future Plan 1/10
5. Technical Writing/Clarity/Neatness 1/10
