This course was, for a long time, the only Radiochemistry course in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>This course gives a thorough description of the nature of radioactive processes, the interaction of radiation with matter,\u00a0 radioactive growth and decay and statistical methods for analysing nuclear data.\u00a0 It continues to discuss the chemistry of radioactive\u00a0 materials, the nature of nuclear fission and the nature of nuclear chain reactions and nuclear reactors.\u00a0 A discussion of the Chernobyl nuclear accident and the Fukushima tsunami problem are accompanied by a detailed description of Canada`s proposal for nuclear fuel waste disposal.\u00a0 Final lectures describe some of the more important theories of nuclear structure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This course is intended to be a Fourth Year course, although it can also be taken\u00a0 by some Third Year and Graduate students.
