The event is a kick-off for Universities Canada’s “Open Doors, Open Knowledge” week. During the national university open house, campuses across the country will invite their MPs and other stakeholders to visit and learn about their investments in research. The Carleton gathering will include a breakfast with remarks from a representative of the Government of Canada and a panel discussion with Carleton students talking about the importance of their research.

The theme of Universities Canada’s “Open Doors, Open Knowledge” week this year is strategic investments in skills and talent, with a focus on the new innovative spaces, buildings, programs and initiatives at Canada’s universities. It’s an opportunity for universities to showcase the technologies, infrastructures and student learning spaces that are contributing to students’ education, stronger communities and a greener Canada.

“Investments in universities are investments in Canada’s future,” says Universities Canada President Paul Davidson. “This week, across the country, universities are demonstrating how strategic investments in students’ learning and research spaces help develop the skills and talent Canada needs to compete on the world stage.”

Investing in Canada’s youth drives a prosperous, inclusive and innovative Canadian economy. State-of-the-art research and training environments prepare students for today’s — and tomorrow’s — labour market.
