The Department of Economics is excited to announce that we are in the process of transitioning to a new set of undergraduate programs, leaving the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree to have our own degree which will be known as the Bachelor of Economics (B. Econ.). We feel that this name better reflects the nature of our programs which are in many ways different from other B.A. disciplines, while also being a degree name that will have greater value in the labour market leading to better job opportunities for our graduates. The Bachelor of Economics was approved by the Carleton University Senate in May of this year and new students will be admitted into the program for the Fall 2017 term. Students registered as Economics Majors in the B.A. at that time will have the option to continue in their B.A. program or switch to a new B. Econ. program.
