Learning Through Doing: An Introduction to Incorporating Experiential Learning into Your Courses

November 18, 2020 at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Facilitators: Deborah Conners (Sociology and EDC) and Jesse McClintock (FASS)

Wanting to add some experiential learning to your courses? Experiential learning (learning by doing) can increase student engagement, link theory to practice, give students an opportunity to do work which has value beyond the learning environment and support your students to integrate concepts at a deeper level. All great reasons to take the leap!

In this workshop, we will give you a theoretical structure to use when approaching experiential learning for the first time and tools for creating simple experiential activities that will support students to achieve the learning objectives of your course in the online environment.

By the end of this session, you will be able to explain a framework for designing experiential activities and to create a plan for a small experiential activity for one of your courses.
