Teaching Online for the First Time – Let’s Take a Deep Breath!
July 15, 2020 at 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Facilitators: Maristela Petrovic-Dzerdz (EDC), Samantha Shortt (EDC)
Teaching and learning online might be a new territory for you and your students. There are many available good resources, tutorials, tools…and you probably feel overwhelmed, not sure where to even begin. The stress is slowly building up…
Join the session where you will have an opportunity to sit back for a moment and discuss some basic considerations for migrating learning experiences to online environment. What to do with the course material you were using in a live class? What do you need technology for and why? How to communicate with students online? Should your course be self-paced or cohort-based? Should your course require synchronous (real-time) meetings, and for what? What to consider when designing online learning activities? What are the biggest challenges your students and you will experience? There are many questions on your mind.
Let’s tackle some of them. There is never one “best practice” in education, but you might get some new ideas that are worth trying, and feel reenergized to take a fresh look at your course as you are preparing for online teaching in these challenging times.
Your facilitators are also Certified Hatha Yoga Teachers, so we will make sure you really take that deep breath during this session!
