Welcome to My Classroom: Encouraging and Incentivizing Students to Read
January 31, 2020 at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
|Location:||404 Dunton Tower|
Facilitator: Grant Williams (English)
A common challenge for university teachers is creating activities and assignments that make it the student’s best interest to keep up with class readings outside the lecture hall. What are the obstacles that prevent students from perusing their textbooks? How can we design our courses to communicate the indispensable value of reading for learning and to maintain the student’s momentum throughout the semester in preparing for lectures?
Join Grant Williams (English) for a discussion to review various techniques and strategies that have the potential to address this challenge.
