Welcome to My Classroom: Learning from High School Teachers
February 15, 2019 at 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
|Location:||404 Dunton Tower|
Facilitators: Tonya Davidson (Sociology and Anthropology)
If you teach first year (and beyond), and are ever curious about what goes on in high school, this will be a useful workshop for you.
In this workshop, two local high school teachers (one in the social sciences, one in the sciences) will give attendees a briefing on what university professors can expect from students in terms of basic competencies, as well as recent pedagogical shifts in high school teaching. This workshop will provide university professors with a better context for understanding undergraduate test anxiety, writing and math literacy, and students’ expectations and hopes for their university experiences.
Join Tonya Davidson (Sociology and Anthropology) for a lively discussion!
Space is limited, so please register in advance by filling out the form below – and don’t forget to pack a lunch!
