Welcome to My Online Classroom – with Shazia Sadaf

Cost:Free

Welcome to My Online Classroom is a workshop series led by instructors, for instructors, with a specific focus on sharing a wide variety of ideas, strategies, and approaches to teaching online. The sessions will begin with a brief overview from the presenter, and then open for question-and-answer and discussion more broadly. The idea is to create spaces where instructors, regardless of experience, can exchange ideas for teaching online.

This particular session will be led by Shazia Sadaf, an Instructor with the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies. Having taught her first fully online course this summer (HUMR 3302), Shazia is now teaching a Fall 2020 course with more than 300 students (HUMR 1001). In this session, she will talk about how she modified her assessment methods to an online format, and dealt with the limitations of using online tools for assessing student learning in a human rights course that is largely based in sharing subjective viewpoints and active discussion. Shazia will also comment on the importance of anticipating common problems that can arise in an online classroom environment, and how to plan ahead in order to avoid them.

Space is limited. Please register in advance by filling out the form below.
