cuPortfolio is Carleton’s electronic portfolio system powered by Mahara. A student-centered learning tool, it provides a venue for students to collect and showcase academic and co-curricular “artifacts” (e.g. assignments, projects, videos, blogs, images, etc.). cuPortfolio allows students to engage in reflective learning as they make connections between artifacts, experiences and accomplishments.
Whether you’re developing a face-to-face or online course for the first time or updating your course materials, we’ll work with you to define your learning activities, plan your lessons, design assessment tools, identify teaching and learning challenges specific to your course, and evaluate your course. Email us to set up a consultation. For online courses, we encourage a particular course design model. Team up with a member of our instructional design team for a full online course design or re-design project.
Assessment Design, Scantron and Item Analysis
We can help develop online and innovative assessments to suit your needs. Contact us to set up an appointment. You can also take advantage of our high speed Scantron reader for scoring multiple-choice tests and exams and our free item analysis consultations to review your exam statistics. This powerful technique can help guide your instruction by identifying questions that were too difficult, too easy or commonly misunderstood by your students. Learn more about Scantron at Carleton.

Community Engaged Pedagogy
Community Engaged Pedagogy is a method of experiential learning that emphasizes action, reflection and real-world engagement. Much more than just volunteerism, CEP is a pedagogy that supports students in developing skills and civic citizenship through a combination of community work and classroom learning. The goal of Carleton’s CEP program is to encourage students to participate in service to create linkages between academic study and larger public life.
