\n EDIT-STEM Symposium at the Congress of the CAP\n <\/h1>\n \n \n \n\n

The EDIT-STEM Symposium at the 2026 CAP Congress was a great success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

The EDIT-STEM team participated in the\u00a02026 Congress of the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP)<\/strong>, where our symposium,\u00a0“Transforming Physics: EDIT-STEM Tools to Advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,”<\/strong> brought together researchers and partners to share the latest developments from the initiative. The interactive symposium highlighted innovative approaches to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across STEM through collaborative, evidence-based research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was chaired by Dr. Ma\u00eft\u00e9 Dupuis<\/strong> of the Perimeter Institute, who offered valuable insights from a partner organization and reflected on the importance of cross-sector collaboration in creating meaningful change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EDIT-STEM researchers delivered three invited presentations showcasing the breadth of the project’s work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Dr. Rowan Thomson<\/strong> provided an overview of the EDIT-STEM initiative and its vision for developing practical, technology-based EDI tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Dr. Alisha Szozda<\/strong> presented the development of a novel assessment tool designed to evaluate individuals’ readiness to engage in EDI initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Dr. Hongwei Zhou<\/strong> shared early lessons from creating educational games that support learning and engagement around EDI in STEM. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The symposium was a tremendous success and reflects the continued momentum of the EDIT-STEM project as we work with partners across Canada to develop innovative, accessible, and scalable solutions that foster more inclusive STEM environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
