She particiated in the EETN’s 2026 mentorship program where she wrote “Armenian Public Opinion And Opportunities For Greater NATO Engagement.”

Mentorship Program 2026 Testimonial

Mahsa kindly shared her perspective on the mentorship program and highlighted the benefit that her participation had on her academic and professional development.

Can you tell me a little bit about your experience in the mentorship program?

The EETN Mentorship Program was a very valuable experience for me. During the program, I worked with survey data related to Armenia and learned a lot about survey methodology, data analysis, and interpreting public opinion research. What I found most interesting was the opportunity to think about the practical implications of the findings and develop policy recommendations based on the data. It helped me better understand how research can contribute to policymaking and address real issues. I also benefited greatly from the guidance of experienced researchers throughout the program.

What was the process of working with your mentor like? How did your relationship aid in the drafting of your policy memo?

My experience working with David Sichinava was very positive. He is always supportive, approachable, and punctual with his team. After each discussion, I had a clear understanding of what I needed to work on next, which made it much easier to move forward with the research. His feedback was constructive and helped me improve both my analysis and my policy memo. I really appreciated having a mentor who was so engaged throughout the process.

How important was the mentorship program to you and your development as a young scholar?

As someone who had been working outside of a research environment, I really appreciated being part of a program that brought back the atmosphere of academic inquiry and learning.

What would you like future generations of young scholars enrolled in the mentorship program to know?

Take advantage of every opportunity that comes to your way and not be afraid to apply, even if you are unsure whether you are fully qualified. Programs like this provide valuable learning experiences. Even if the experience is different from what you expected, you will always learn something new and develop skills that will be useful in the future.

        Read Mahsa’s Work

                        June 22nd, 2026

                        9
                        min read

Armenian Public Opinion And Opportunities For Greater NATO Engagement

This policy brief examines public opinion of security policy in Armenia for NATO.
