Deep breath in
\nyou’re okay,
\nit was a really testing
\nand trying day<\/p>\n
The world is on fire
\nthis we have known
\nto calm the flame
\nwe must stay home<\/p>\n
Creation is calling
\nand so is my heart
\nmy 9 – 5 job is
\ntearing me apart<\/p>\n
A sea of grey
\ncorridors of white
\nempty halls and empty words
\nhaunt me at night<\/p>\n
In the day I dream
\nof what it could be
\nthe engineering life
\nfor the ‘she’s’ after me<\/p>\n
I don’t want them to cry
\nor change what they wear
\nto be more like the men
\nunder 30 with grey hair<\/p>\n
This purpose fills my heart
\nand breaks it all the same
\nfor I get so tired
\nmanoeuvring this game<\/p>\n
What does it look like?
\nDoes it shine does it smell?
\nI know how it will feel
\nmaking light amongst hell<\/p>\n
A mural? A painting?
\nMy usual way?
\nShould I leave? Should I quit?
\nSomething tells me to stay<\/p>\n
Is it money?
\nIs it power?
\nI can’t answer
\nI don’t know
\nCrazy thoughts fill my head
\nI should leave and be free
\nbut I can always feel
\nthe girl after me<\/p>\n
‘Be the role model you wish you had’
\na deep breath of release
\nI want to make a difference
\nfor girls just like me<\/p>\n
To empower others
\nI must first empower myself
\nmove with purpose
\nmove with grace
\nprioritise your health<\/p>\n
Both physical and mental
\nin times like these
