Share one fun fact about yourself.
When I’m feeling socially awkward my go to is: “Want to see pictures of my dog!?” This is a warning, if you say yes you will be seeing ALL the cute pictures of my dog.

Who is the most inspiring engineer you know or have heard of?
Nikola Tesla. To me, Tesla represents the ideal engineer; for almost his entire life he dedicated himself to discovering and applying science to better the lives of people around him. He did this despite the lack of money, appreciation and support he received. Actually he refused to get paid and destroyed some of his contracts when people could not afford to pay him. The integrity present in him is inspiring.

Why did you choose your program of study?
I was torn between a double major of violin performance/theoretical physics and aerospace engineering. When processing for violin performance took a really (really) long time, I took a leap of faith, but only because no one had ever told me what engineers do. I accepted my offer for aerospace engineering and within the first few weeks of first year, I had completely fallen in love! I realized it was pretty much perfect for me, there’s a lot of math and science, as well as the opportunity to be as creative as I want (which was the part no one told me about)! The cherry on top is the opportunity for teamwork, which is my absolutely favourite part of music, engineering is so much about teamwork, so I get to combine all of my favourite things and hopefully make a career out of it!

What has been your favourite course?
Engineering materials. I loved learning about the importance and factors affecting material choice. The laboratories were also the most exciting so far, there was so much hands-on work! My favorite laboratory was installing small rivets!

What has been the best part of your engineering education?
So far the best part has been the people. The support that is present in engineering is amazing. It’s like always having one of those inflatable stunt pillows there to catch you. There is always someone willing to help you, whether it’s a student, TA or a professor.
