Five students from Carleton’s research-intensive Faculty of Engineering and Design have been awarded scholarships on behalf of the Ontario Professional Engineers Foundation for Education (OPEFE).

OPEFE awards provide an opportunity for the engineering profession in Ontario to demonstrate its commitment to high standards of both technical competence and leadership in the development of future professional engineers.

Winners were presented with their awards by OPEFE board member Steven Rose at the Faculty of Engineering and Design’s Dean’s Honour List Reception, hosted February 2, 2016.

Carleton recipients of OPEFE Entrance Scholarships include Caroline Roos (Biomedical & Electrical Engineering) and Joseph Lindon (Engineering Physics).

OPEFE annual Entrance Scholarships, valued at $1,500 each, are presented to one male student and one female student at each of Ontario’s 15 accredited engineering schools. Recipients must have attained high academic standing in their final year of high school and be well-rounded students who exhibit characteristics of leadership.

The OPEFE also presented Undergraduate Scholarships to Ann Gunaratnam (Electrical Engineering), Shaziana Kaderali (Aerospace Engineering), and Jonathan Oommen (Computer Systems Engineering).

OPEFE Undergraduate Scholarships, also valued at $1,500 each, are presented to engineering undergraduate students in subsequent years of their study. These scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit exceptional role model qualities through participation in non-academic activities while maintaining above average grades.
