Description

In this Candid Conversation (an informal mentorship event), you will hear from a representative at Lockheed Martin about their experience going from university into the workforce and how they’ve set her career up for success. This is a small group setting, with a maximum of eight women students, where back and forth conversation is strongly encouraged.

This event will be held in-person and there will be light refreshments available for attendees.

Who can attend the event?

We encourage women from all backgrounds and identities to join this Candid Conversation, especially women students in a Carleton University Bachelor, Master’s or Doctoral program, of: engineering, IT, applied science, computer science, mathematics, or physics. We are committed to creating spaces that are welcoming and supportive to women of all backgrounds, intersecting identities, and experiences – including racialized women, women with disabilities, Indigenous women, etc.

Lauren Soulsby, Systems Engineer Associate

Originally from Nova Scotia, Lauren Soulsby graduated from Carleton University’s Mechanical Engineering program with High Distinction in May 2021. While completing her university degree, she joined MDS Aero Support Corp. through the Carleton co-op program. During this placement, Lauren supported the systems engineering team with delivering turnkey Gas Turbine Engine test facilities to international clients. After graduation, Lauren joined Lockheed Martin Canada as a Systems Engineering Associate on the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) program. Lauren is actively working on the Above Water Warfare (AWW) team, as a Subcontract Technical Authority for the Spy-7 Radar and Surveillance Systems.
