His PhD examined changes in the subchondral bone and cartilage associated with hip impingement, and assessed the influence of these changes on cartilage tissue pressure and stresses. Dr. Speirs is currently developing methods to model cartilage in dynamic simulations to study joint incongruity and associated arthritis.
