Our researchers, collaborating with municipalities and consulting companies, are improving the performance of treatment processes and developing new treatment technologies for water and wastewater by examining:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>treatment and disposal of biosolids;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the fate and persistence of pathogens and chemicals during treatment processes;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>fouling rates of bioreactor membrane systems;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>removal of endocrine disrupters, pharmaceuticals and recalcitrant compounds; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ultraviolet disinfection and advanced oxidation processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carleton\u2019s Environmental Engineering Laboratory is utilized to evaluate innovative technologies for water and wastewater treatment and to study the fate and transport of compounds in the environment.
