FED Faculty and Other Researchers \n                    <\/h1>\n                \n                                \n                            <\/header>\n\n                    <\/div>\n\n            <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Join us for an interactive workshop focused on advancing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) by providing faculty and the academic community with practical strategies directly relevant to teaching and research in engineering, IT and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This session will explore how we can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contribute to the awareness and understanding of EDI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop new and improved avenues for EDI practice in the workplace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/about\/edi\/#edi-action-plan-2023-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FED\u2019s EDI Action Plan<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Date:<\/strong>&nbsp;Tuesday, April 28, 2026&nbsp;<br><strong>Time:<\/strong>&nbsp;1:00-3:45 p.m.&nbsp;<br><strong>Location:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/facultyofengineeringanddesignfed.createsend1.com\/t\/t-i-wituthy-l-h\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">124 Leeds<\/a> (Leeds House, 1st Floor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"#Register\">Register to Attend<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"overview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2023, the Faculty of Engineering and Designed launched its inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/about\/edi\/#edi-action-plan-2023-2026\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/about\/edi\/#edi-action-plan-2023-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EDI Action Plan<\/a>, outlining nine key action areas to advance equity and inclusion across academic and professional environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This interactive workshop is designed to support that work by enhancing inclusive and equity-driven practices in teaching, team project and supervisory dynamics, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session will include a presentation led by an experienced EDI practitioner, followed by a participatory component, creating space for small group discussion, shared learning and exchange between participants and the facilitator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"speaker\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Speaker&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a background in biochemistry, our facilitator Dr. Imogen Coe has advised academia, government and industry on best practices and approaches to improve EDI in STEM, particularly in the Canadian post-secondary education (PSE) sector for over ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She has written and spoken about these issues extensively for different platforms and has also given a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/63xTTTYWEQ8?si=hWJndaSG0ySyZmqL\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/63xTTTYWEQ8?si=hWJndaSG0ySyZmqL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TEDx talk<\/a> on gender equity in science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information about Dr. Coe&#8217;s background and work, <a href=\"https:\/\/imogencoeconsulting.ca\/about\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/imogencoeconsulting.ca\/about\">visit the speaker\u2019s professional profile<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions about the workshop?
