Carleton’s Creative Writing program is immensely valuable, as it provides emerging Canadian writers with a variety of courses and workshops designed to hone skills, expand creativity, provide feedback, and introduce them into the world of publication. Through the exploration of genre, style, and tone, writers begin to find and develop their own unique voice, and develop a sense of themselves as literary artists. My personal experiences in both the fiction and creative nonfiction workshops have led to solid friendships, a sense of belonging within the Ottawa writing community, and several publications, including the Carleton University Writing Competition, CBC Defining Moments Contest, The Globe and Mail, Passion; Poetry, and BareBack Literary Magazine.
