I had the honour of being the first person to graduate from Carleton with the concentration in creative writing in Spring of 2013. I personally feel the most valuable element of the concentration was the relationships I built with other writers and instructors. Having a community of fellow writers around me was incredibly motivating and I learned a great deal from my peers. Their constructive criticism helped me to analyze my writing more objectively and work on weaknesses, while their continuous support and appreciation for my strengths helped to boost my confidence. Being part of this community gave me an energy and enthusiasm for my writing, and pushed me to grow as a writer and editor.
