michelle 300The creative writing concentration was a perfect balance with my English Literature degree. The contrast of intimate seminars and creative projects that had few restrictions alongside academic essays and long lectures kept things interesting and fresh….the workshops motivated me to pursue creative writing more seriously and consequently lead to my role as an editor of In/Words magazine and Co-President of the English Literature Society. I gained confidence in my creative abilities and won poetry contests at Carleton and in the Ottawa community. I encourage all students with a passion for creative writing to consider adding the concentration to their degree or even applying to the different workshops in order to fill their electives.
