In Amanda’s own words…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since graduating from Carleton University, I have worked in a number of fields that have benefited from the skills and training I received through my undergraduate studies. The ability to conduct research, think critically and write effectively have certainly helped me advance in my career. I now work for the federal government as a policy analyst, where these skills are used on a daily basis to deliver policy and program initiatives. In this role, I am responsible for developing Treasury Board submissions, memoranda to Cabinet, legislative and regulatory packages, as well as briefing materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to working as a policy analyst, I am also the proud author of the children\u2019s book Little Voice<\/em>. <\/em>When I first decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts undergraduate program in English Literature and History, I did so because of my love for reading and writing. It was this same love that inspired me to set out and publish my first children’s book. On December 2, 2014, Little Voice <\/em>was officially published and has since sold over 1,000 copies. In 2015, Little Voice <\/em>was recognized by Scholastic <\/em>and Usher’s New Look Campaign<\/em><\/a> as one of the top ten inspirational books of the year. Whether you are a child or an adult, we all can relate to the feeling of needing a little inspiration. The goal in publishing Little Voice<\/em> was to deliver just that, a reminder to always believe in yourself and your dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t always know what career path I wanted to take in life but what I did know is that it had to involve writing. Since leaving Carleton, one thing I learned is that a good writer can make a big difference in any organization. Writing is a skill that will support you in whatever career path you choose to follow. My studies in English Literature opened more doors than I could have ever imagined, and in the same way, your own studies will lead you to opportunities that will benefit from the foundation you’ll develop here at Carleton University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
