My background in English Language and Literature has informed my work by giving me an analytical and creative lens through which to approach visual design, UX, and web development. My career path has included graphic design, web development, and digital-content strategy—roles that benefit from the critical-thinking and storytelling skills I developed through literary studies.

How has your Carleton English degree informed your professional and/or creative path?

Literature and visual art are both shaped by intentional design and interpreted through critical lenses. I approach visual work with the same analytical depth I developed through studying literature, applying those frameworks to design, communications, and user experience. In this way, my professional practice is deeply rooted in and continuously informed by my background in English.

Why Carleton? What specific experience or opportunities did you benefit from while studying English and Carleton?

Carleton stood out for both the strength of its faculty and the breadth of opportunities available to students. Learning from world-class researchers and academics shaped my approach to analysis, research, and interpretation, with a strong emphasis on rigor, clarity, and original thought. Beyond the classroom, I completed a fellowship in Children’s Museology, an experience that deepened my understanding of storytelling and curation. Together, these experiences continue to inform how I think, communicate, and create in my professional work.

[26

post-28263","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-alumni
["GET
