Throughout my studies in Aerospace Engineering \u2013 Space Systems Design (Carleton University 2025), I have had the opportunity to develop my understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, and have discovered a profound interest for applying these concepts in the fields of material sciences and chemistry. With a completed Minor in Chemistry, I have been able to further my understanding of the fundamental processes that govern the molecular interactions between particles.<\/p>\n
My background in aerospace engineering and chemistry, as well as the growing need for innovations in environmental sustainability, has ultimately led me to the EPTL Powdered Metal Reactor (PMR) project. The PMR uses iron metal particulates \u2013 a common waste product of metallurgy and manufacturing processes \u2013 as fuel for combustion. This process generates thermal energy with zero carbon emissions and has the potential to be a highly competitive alternative to the currently ubiquitous, non-renewable energy sources \u2013 such as coal and natural gas \u2013 that generate greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to climate change.
