Dr. Reem Mahmoud is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a member of the Energy and Particle Technology Laboratory (EPTL) at Carleton University. Her current research focuses on the synthesis of catalytic nanoparticles via flame spray pyrolysis and the development of processes for high-purity alumina (HPA) production.<\/p>\n
She holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke, Canada, where her research focused on methane pyrolysis in RF-ICP plasma systems for graphene synthesis and reaction mechanism investigation.<\/p>\n
Following her Ph.D., she worked as a Research Assistant at Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke on pilot-scale fluidized bed reactors for carbon nanofilament production and catalyst development. She then joined Impact Global Solutions Inc. (IGS) as a Solution Manager\u2013Hydrometallurgist, focusing on metal extraction, solution chemistry optimization, flowsheet design, and battery recycling processes.<\/p>\n
Her expertise includes nanomaterials synthesis, thermal plasma processing, hydrometallurgy, catalyst development, thermochemical modeling, statistical analysis and advanced materials characterization (TEM, SEM, XRD, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, TGA-MS).
