Vishnu Priya Guddeti received an undergraduate degree from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University in 2017. She started her career as a Junior Engineer at Ford and worked on Advanced Driver Assistance features in automotive navigation. As a young engineer she started exploring technological advancements in this domain and expanded her interests to Intelligent Navigation Systems. Her undergraduate study and work experience provided a good exposure to the breadth of engineering concepts, but lacked opportunities to specialize and apply her knowledge, which lead her to pursue graduate studies.
While exploring different options for higher studies across the globe she learned about Master of Applied Science (MASc) programs in Canada, where students can work on research projects and complete their studies simultaneously. Research projects carried out in the Embedded and Multi-sensor Systems (EMS) lab at Carleton University were closely related to the work she was interested in and Carleton's Master of Applied Science in Systems and Computer Engineering seemed like a tailor-made program. Vishnu was pleased to be admitted into the MASc and honoured to be offered a Research Assistant position in the lab of Professor Mohamed Atia. Under the guidance of Prof. Atia, Vishnu Priya is researching mmWave Beam selection for 5G Networks. Her research investigates machine learning approaches to optimize beam-forming adaptively based on user motion analysis
As an Ericsson Fellow, Vishnu is grateful of the opportunity to carry out research under the supervision of experts from both Carleton University and Ericsson including Professor Mohamed Atia, Sandra Ballarte, Aroosh Elahi, Gary Boudreau, and Hatem Abou-zeid.
