Researchers are working to modernize applications in a range of industries \u2013 including healthcare, agriculture, transportation, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. Projects have engaged 23 Carleton faculty members, seven <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ericsson\/fellows\/\">Ericsson Fellows<\/a>, and more than 500 co-op work terms at Ericsson Ottawa to date.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Our 5G network deployments continue to progress very fast, said Cavaletti. And this partnership is a key pillar for our research and talent development to assist other industries in building sustainable networks.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A major entity of the partnership is the Ericsson Fellowship Program. This new program is a prestigious research opportunity for graduate students. Currently there are seven <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ericsson\/fellows\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ericsson Fellows<\/a> who are financially supported by Ericsson to focus on their 5G research area. All seven fellows presented at the <em>TechTalks<\/em>. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the previous <em>TechTalks<\/em>, the state-of-the-art <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/ericsson-carleton-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wireless 5G ARISE Laboratory<\/a>&nbsp;opened in the Advanced Research and Innovation in Smart Environments (ARISE) building. This is the first lab in Canada with a private standalone 5G network.
