Hello everyone,

As term wraps up we hope that your fall semester has been a good one. Please don’t forget, we’re here to support you, so don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We’ll be closed over the break, but back early January. We hope that you have a restful break and are able to de-stress with family, friends and/or netflix (whatever makes you happy). We look forward to welcoming you back in January and helping you work toward your goals. In the meantime, we hope you’re able to put your feet up and enjoy the holidays.


Holiday closure

Our ESP offices will be closed at the end of the day Thursday, December 22.

  • ESP (and the rest of the university) will re-open on Wednesday, January 4th.
  • Classes & workshops will start on Monday, January 9th.

Most buildings will be closed and locked during this holiday closure.

Library

The MacOdrum Library will close at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

Residence and Dining Services

The following five residence buildings will remain open for the holiday period: Frontenac, Glengarry, Leeds, Lennox and Addington, and Prescott. Only those students who have registered, received permission and paid to remain will have access to their rooms. Card access for all other students will be deactivated from noon on Friday, December 23, 2022 until noon on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Recreation and Athletics

Athletics facilities will be closed on Sunday, December 25, 2022 and Sunday, January 1, 2023 but open otherwise. For more information regarding specific facility operations over the holidays, including the Ice House, Fitness Centre and Pool, please visit the Athletics website.


Apply to add a half credit in January

Doing well in your courses? Consider adding another in the winter term. The criteria for adding a half-credit course in January is:

  • Minimum of B- (70%) average in current courses
  • Strong (70+%) workshop and FYSM attendance.

The deadline to apply has been extended to January 9th.

Determination bursary: Apply now

ESP is happy to announce that we have some winter bursaries available. These bursaries were established to help support students with workshop fees and educational expenses.

What: This is a bursary award of $1000 for the winter term. A bursary is a grant that is awarded based on financial need. Unlike loans, you do not need to repay bursaries. There are five bursaries available.

When: The application deadline is January 15th.

Who: This will be awarded to 5 current ESP students who are in need of financial assistance this term.

Criteria: Priority will be given to students with strong attendance and academic performance, and who have not received a Carleton University bursary this academic year.
