Karelle Sikapi

ESP Facilitator for Sociology

Advice from Karelle:

“Many students do not get the chance to take comprehensive social science courses in high school and are first introduced to sociology as a discipline in university. I would encourage students to watch videos and find resources online that apply sociological theory to everyday life. I feel like that helps them understand sociology outside of the classroom, as that not only helps to understand concepts but also helps to develop the sociological imagination. Sociology is a vast field. Within that field, you can explore and find the areas that interest you. For me that is intersectionality and race relations.”

Fun fact about Karelle:

She likes to joke that one of her favourite hobbies is studying, but she also enjoys crochet and dance.
