How do you apply?

IESP does not base its admissions decisions on high school or college/university grades alone. For this reason, we ask students to submit an Application Package including an application form, two letters of reference from teachers, a personal statement and an application fee.

IESP applications are not made through the Ontario University Application Centre.  Instead, you apply directly to the program, following these steps:

  1. Download our Fall 2018 Application Package here.
  2. Complete each step outlined in the IESP Application Package. Look through our website to help you complete the Personal Statement, then mail or drop-off your complete application package and application fee to:

What is required to return to IESP for a second year?

Your attendance in workshops, final grades and application essay will be used to determine your eligibility for a second year of IESP. You need to have good attendance in your workshops and an average approximately in the C range. You will also need to complete and submit the Second Year/Returning Student IESP Application form.

What is the application deadline?

  • Fall 2018:  Deadline extended to July 23, 2018
  • Winter 2018: January Admissions is now closed.

If I’m taking summer courses, should I still apply to a second year of IESP?

Consider applying to a second year of IESP even if you are enrolled in summer courses. While your summer course may help you qualify for admission to a degree program, you may want to apply to a second year of IESP as a precaution.

Spaces in the second year of IESP are limited and may be full before you have your summer course results, so if you are considering this option, please apply early.

If you are admitted to a degree program after you receive your summer course results, you may simply withdraw your application to IESP.

What does a second year of IESP involve?

If admitted to a second year of IESP, you would enroll in one core second-year credit and two first-year elective credit courses chosen from the list of courses supported by the program.

Can I apply to receive funding for second year IESP?

For students funded by their band, please contact us for advice. Some funders will support a second year in IESP.

The ministry will only fund students who are eligible for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) to take IESP for one year. This means second-year students cannot receive OSAP (if they received it in their first year of study).

Students may apply for a bank student line of credit and/or student bursaries.
