The central research question for the dissertation is: How could M\u00e9tis perspectives on land, resource management, and development be included in Manitoban resource management plans (and broadly the resource management plans that are applicable to M\u00e9tis at the federal level) to create more relational and decolonized environmental policies? This project aims to examine Manitoba M\u00e9tis Federation (MMF) Citizen\u2019s thoughts on development in Manitoba and whether it corresponds to M\u00e9tis kaa-tipeyimishoyaahk (self-governance) and Resolution no. 8 as described by the MMF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supervisor(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Christine Koggel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Research Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Settler\/Indigenous Relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Historical and contemporary M\u00e9tis governance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relational theorizing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decolonization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am a PhD student with European (Irish and Ukrainian) and M\u00e9tis ancestry. I am passionate about decolonizing natural resource management in Canada, with particular attention to the experiences of M\u00e9tis in Manitoba. I am currently working towards a career in policy, or other academic pursuits, specifically tied to research interests in natural resource management and Indigenous\/Settler relationships.
