The Belt and Road Initiative stands for the “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the“21st Century Maritime Silk Road.” Proposed by China five years ago and joined by over 100 countries ever since, the BRI aims at providing an international platform for cooperation and achieving common prosperity through increased connectivity among countries.
The BRI Conference, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy and Carleton University, brings together diplomats, experts and businesspeople to discuss and share their insights on the BRI, focusing on its economic, diplomatic and human impacts as well as opportunities for Canada to achieve trade diversification and tap the vast Asia Pacific market.
