Keynote Lecture: Herman von Rompuy on “The Future of Europe”

We are pleased to announce that Herman Van Rompuy, President emeritus of the European Council, will give a keynote lecture at Carleton University on “The Future of Europe”.

About the Speaker: Herman Van Rompuy served as the first President of the European Council between 2009 and 2014. In this function, he helped steer the European Union through the Eurozone financial crisis; he was also one of the EU leaders who accepted the Nobel Peace Prize 2012 on the EU’s behalf. Prior to his career at the EU level, Van Rompuy served as Prime Minister of Belgium (2008-2009), Speaker of the Belgian House of Representatives (2007-2008) and in several ministerial positions in the Belgian government. He is now the President of the European Policy Centre.
