Please join us Wednesday November 18, 2015 for a special seminar: “Impressions from Valdai:  Russian domestic and foreign policy in perspective”. Russian experts Dr. Piotr Dutkiewicz and Dr. Nikolai Zlobin will explore key themes in Russia’s domestic and foreign policy discourse, drawing on their thoughts and impressions fresh from attending the 12th annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club; a prestigious international research and discussion club based in Russia.

The event will take place from 3:00-4:30pm in the History Department Lounge (Paterson Hall, PA 433), at Carleton University.  A map of the Carleton campus is available here.

Dr. Nikolai Zlobin is a well-known Russian-American political expert, journalist, and scholar. He has lived between Moscow and Washington for 20 years. He is the founder and president of the Center on Global Interests in Washington, D.C (2012), and has taught at  Harvard, Stanford, and Georgetown. Dr. Zlobin has authored 23 books and more than 250 academic articles on policy, history and international security, published in 17 languages.

Dr. Piotr Dutkiewicz is a professor at EURUS and co-director of the Centre for Governance and Public Management (CGPM) at Carleton University. He is internationally recognized as a leading expert on Russia’s internal, regional and global affairs. In recognition of his outstanding research and contributions to Russian-Canadian relations, Dr. Dutkiewicz received the Russian Federation’s Order of Friendship from President Dmitry Medvedev (2009).
