EURUS is pleased to host a lecture, “The Hybrid War: Ukraine, Putin, and Obama/Trump,” with Dr. Olexiy Haran. In this lecture, Dr. Haran will discuss what the outcome of the US presidential election will mean for Ukraine. This lecture reviews the international reaction to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, which – while varying widely – resulted in economic sanctions being imposed on Russia since 2014. The lecture examines key aspects of the current international support for Ukraine, and discusses whether the election of an apparently “Putin-friendly” US president will change the level of international support.
Dr. Haran is a professor at the University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, where he serves as founding director of the School for Policy Analysis. Since 2015, he has also been research director at the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, a leading Ukrainian think tank. He is the author of many publications and a former member of the Council of “EuroMaidan”. In late 2015, he became a member of the Council of National Unity under the President of Ukraine.
This event if free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.
