EURUS is pleased to present a lecture, “Russian Disruption: From Terrorism to Team Trump” with Allan Kagaden, Carleton University.

About the lecture: In the 1960s and 1970s, the Soviet Union supported left-wing terrorist groups. In recent years, Russia has supported right-wing populist groups. Why did, and does, Russia engage in these foreign influence operations to support extreme political actors? What  methods does Russia use to conduct these operations? What is their outcome?

About the speaker: Allan Kagedan earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University with a focus on Russia, Eurasia and ethnic politics. Dr. Kagedan’s subsequent career in Canada’s national security community included positions at the Privy Council Office, the Department Public Safety, and the Department of National Defence. Since retiring in 2016, he conducts research and provides advice to clients on national security matters.

This is a public event and no registration is required.
