Event Description: The lecture will address key economic and strategic issues facing Europe today. It will explore how the Czech Republic perceives and approaches these challenges, including the effects of global competition, energy security, technological innovation, supply chain resilience, and economic dependencies. Attendees will gain insights into the Czech Republic’s strategies within the broader EU framework to strengthen economic stability, foster innovation, and enhance regional and global competitiveness.

About the Speaker: Martin Tlapa has an extensive background in diplomacy, economic relations, and international trade, currently serving as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Canada since October 2023. Previously, he held prominent roles in both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. His earlier career includes significant roles in trade promotion and foreign economic relations at CzechTrade, the national trade promotion agency or at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Canada. Martin Tlapa has a strong academic foundation with an MBA from Sheffield Hallam University (1999-2002) and a degree from the University of Economics in Prague (1985-1989).
