The Centre for European Studies, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa, are pleased to present a Current Event Series Lecture

“Avenues of Cooperation between Canada and the Visegrad 4: A Roundtable with the Political Directors of Ministries of Foreign Affairs from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic”

Moderator: Professor David Long, Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA)

Roundtable participants include Mr. Václáv Bálek, Political Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Republic; Mr. Marcin Bosacki, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada; Mr.Ĺubomir Rehák, Political Director, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic;Mr. Szabolcs Takács, Deputy State Secretary, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hungary; and Mrs. Carla Wursterová, Executive Director of the International Visegrád Fund.

The roundtable participants will discuss a range of topics including the recent developments in Iran, Iraq, Syria, and the Middle East; the results of the Canada-EU Summit and the opportunities for bilateral trade and investment; energy security and Canada’s role as a global energy leader; and the situation in Ukraine as a follow-up on the NATO Summit.

The event is supported, in part, by a grant from the European Union, and in collaboration with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa.
