Jens Hartmann

Jens Hartmann is an M.A. student in Governance and Public Policy at Technical University in Darmstadt, Germany (2021-2023). He obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the Technical University. Prior to that, he studied Business Administration at the University of Applied Science in Mainz, Germany. In 2022, Jens obtained a grant from the Jean Monnet Network on EU-Canada Relations to support his internship at Carleton University, during which he helped develop the War in Ukraine Observatory project. It was funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. He is particularly interested in energy topics as well as in international affairs with a focus on bilateral relations within the EU.

Alex Salojin

Alexander Salojin is a graduate of the EURUS M.A. program. He completed his M.A. thesis on the subject of social network sites and their impact on youth political engagement in Russia.  During his studies at EURUS, Alexander worked as a research assistant for the War in Ukraine Observatory project.


Lisa D.

In June 2022, Lisa obtained a grant from the Jean Monnet Network on EU-Canada Relations, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, to support her internship at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University. During her internship, she helped develop the War in Ukraine Observatory web portal, which was a great opportunity for her to gain more insight into the ongoing events in Ukraine and transatlantic cooperation in regards to the Russo-Ukrainian war.


Dmitry Prokoptsov

Dmitry Prokoptsov obtained a B.A. in Honors History and Geography (2022) at Trent University, Canada. Currently, Dmitry is enrolled in the M.A. program in European, Russian and Eurasian studies at Carleton University, Canada (2022-2024). His research interests are Russian area studies, museums, the Gulags, and terror in relation to history. Dmitry worked as a research assistant for the War in Ukraine Observatory project.


Marko Bajus

Marko Bajus obtained a B.A. Honours in Sport Management (2020) at Brock University, Canada. Currently, Marko is enrolled in the M.A. program in European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University, Canada (2022-2024). His research interests are within Eastern Europe and Ukraine area studies, particularly kin-state relations with kin-minorities. Marko worked as a research assistant for the War in Ukraine Observatory project.


Baia Kotrikadze

Baia Kotrikadze completed a B.A. in English Honours at Mount Royal University and is currently working on her M.A. at the EURUS Institute at Carleton University. Her research interests include the politics of Eurasia, literatures of the Caucasus, and diasporic identities. She is one of the team members at the War in Ukraine Observatory.


Nicholas Morrison

Nicholas Morrison is a second-year MA student at the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He is currently completing his thesis, which focuses on the Nevada-Semipalatinsk Movement and late Soviet environmentalism in Kazakhstan. Prior to joining Carleton in 2022, Nicholas completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and Medieval Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University.
