SUMMARY:Ukraine&#039;s Refugees in Europe - Needs, Policies, Responses
DESCRIPTION:Since February 24, 2022, when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, approximately 10 mil. Ukrainians have been displaced, with more than 4 mil. sheltering in the neighbouring European countries. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Commissioner, Filippo Grandi, this is “the fastest growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War II.” This roundtable brings together experts from Europe and Canada to discuss the current situation of Ukrainian refugees, the responses of the European Union and Canada to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, and possible lessons learned from other conflicts with recent mass migration. This event is hosted by the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at Carleton University.
