SUMMARY:Canadian – Russian Relations and Harper’s Foreign Policy
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a special guest lecture given by Canadian Ambassador Chris Westdal on Canadian – Russian Relations and Harper’s Foreign Policy.&nbsp; Drawing on decades of diplomatic experience, Ambassador Westdal will share his insights into the state of Canadian-Russian relations, with an eye to the greater context and nature of Canadian foreign policy under Prime Minister Stephen Harper.



Speaker biography: Chris Westdal was Canadian Ambassador to Russia 2003-06; the UN in Geneva and the Conference on Disarmament 1999-2003; Ukraine 1996-98; South Africa 1991-93; and Bangladesh and Burma 1982-85. He earlier worked for CIDA in Tanzania, India and Nepal. In Ottawa, he worked at CIDA, DFAIT and the PCO. He studied political science at St John&#039;s College (BA 1970) and public administration at the University of Manitoba (MBA 1970). Now a consultant and occasional commentator on international affairs, he has served on corporate boards with interests in Russia and Ukraine and is a director of Silver Bear Resources.
